Quite some time ago, i encountered a "street evangalist" in Athens, outside of a venue I was about to perform in with the Electric Eels. This man had things backwards, and left a bitter taste in my mouth that has plagued me over the past few months. I am still angered when I think of his judgemental words, his accusations, and his lack of love in his delivery. I wrote a song entitled "Truth be Told" about people like this. Now, I feel that I left the conversation with something, and he walked away with nothing. P.S He walked away from me...
Truth Be Told:
A heavy drunk, you rarely ever found him sober,
the entire town swore him straight to hell.
There was not a sound, you should have seen their faces
when he turned his head and replied:
You'll be suprised about who you find in heaven,
it's a sin, the fact that you condemn.
On the outside you see a low down,
dirty sinner, you can't see inside my soul.
Caught red handed in adulterous fornication
so they drug her into the street,
no stones were thrown once they looked into the mirror
truth be told, we all are human beings.
